kids say funny things

-- Kimi was telling me a little about Lehi's vision of the tree of life and told me about the "strange and vicious" building. Funny what a good description that is. (10/10)
--Scott told Kimi he would let her have some potato chips if she could tell him the capitol of Alaska. "A!" she answered without hesitation. She got her chips.(6/10)
--One more from my "doughnut girl." The kids were in the car with Scott reviewing the way home when Cali recited, "Never eat soggy waffles." Kimi agreed, "Yeah, and never eat soggy doughnuts either!" (6/10)
-- Ian was telling everyone at dinner that he and Kimi had been watching the birds that day. Scott asked him if they were watching them out the window, which they were. Cali said, "If they had been outside they would have been scaring birds, notwatching them." (3/10)
--I gave Cali a cookie to eat with some milk she didn't drink after dinner. When I was clearing the table I saw that she still hadn't drank the milk. I asked her about it and she said, "I forgot. It's hard to think about anything else when you are eating a cookie." (3/10)
--Kimi was pretending to be a princess. She told me "Pretending to be a princess is easy. I just pretend to be like a mommy." I thought that was so sweet until she told me "I just command everyone to do everything." I guess I should have seen that coming.
--Ian was over at Grandma C.'s house and she was walking upstairs to her bedroom. Ian asked her where she was going and she said she was just going to go get changed. So he asked, "Are you poopy?" (2/10)
--I was trying to get Ian to tell me whether or not he wanted butter on his muffin at breakfast. He kept telling me he wanted a "t-mark" Finally Kimi said "He wants you to 'mark it with a 't'" Thank you, Kimi, for helping me figure out he was trying to live out patty-cake dreams. (1/10)
--At dinner, Kimi told us that her tummy was saying that it was full. "It's good to listen to your tummy." I told her. Ian immediately piped up, "My tummy wants to play Star Wars Legos!" (12/09)
--Kimi was playing with a little toy dragonfly and was trilling her tongue and making funny high pitched noises. I asked her if that's how dragonflies talk. She said, "I don't know dragonfly speak so I'm talking seahorse." (12/09)
-- Kimi was saying a prayer and you could tell she was fishing around for things to pray for and said this, "Please bless us to be able to protect Natalie from bears if they come. . . cause it COULD happen."(12/09)
--Ian loves to sing all the time now. One of his favorites is "Follow the Prophet." He sings it "Follow the prophet, don't get strange." Good advice for anyone. (10/09)
--Ian found a bug in our house and was yelling at me about the "potato bug" which is what he thinks most bugs are. After I got a tissue and squished it he said "whoah, mashed potato bug." (09/09)
--Kimi gave a talk about seeing temples in primary. Though I tried to convince her of the correct pronunciation, the bulk of her talk was about the Ogre Mountain Temple. (09/09)
--Kimi loves doughnuts. So much so that we call her the "doughnut girl." Last night I heard her crying in her sleep and went to see what was wrong. "My dream told me that I couldn't have any doughnuts!" That is a nightmare.
--This was actually said by Scott. We were discussing Ian's inability to get his colors right all the time and Scott said, "Colors are hard because they aren't always black or white."
--I overheard this from the other room: Kimi was struggling to carry the Barbie box downstairs and asked Cali to help. Cali replied, "I've got my own problems."
--Someone destroyed a tower that Cali built out of blocks and she cried, "Aaah! That took me minutes to build!"
--Cali told me "when you bounce on your bottom on the couch its not actually your bottom that's bouncy, its the springs." Thanks for clearing that up.
--Kimi was asking a blessing on the food at dinner and apparently there wasn't enough there because she said, "Please bless Mommy to put more food on the table for me to eat." (I did get some more things out to show her that her prayers are heard and answered. :) )
--Kimi was looking at a book of costumes and said to me, "Don't you wish I had a mermaid costume so I would stop bugging you about it?" Nice try.
--The girls were asking to buy another toy. Scott and I told them they already have so many they can't play with them and they aren't appreciating what they have. Kimi said, "We appreciate the toys, we just don't want to play with them."
--Cali was discussing what she wanted to be someday with us. "Maybe I could be a bus driver." Aim high, sweetie.
--Ian loves to listen to books, and it shows. Whenever he finishes anything now, including dinner or a drink, he will say "the end."
--Kimi said to me, "I need you to help me make a card that says, 'Jana, Happy Birthday, Jana' but I don't want you to know its for you."
--Ian's FIRST funny thing said: sitting in his highchair, Ian pointed to what he wanted from the table and said "MORMON" instead of "more." We're bringing this kid up right.
--This is just something I find cute. Kimi will come up to me, really serious about something, and starts out by saying, "Okay Mommy, here's the thing. . ."
--Cali wanted to do something with Scott but he was finishing a football game online and explained to Cali that he had to finish and win to move up a level or something and after Cali listened to the whole explanation she said, "Blah, blah, blah, Ok."
--Cali was shopping with me and was looking at a price tag of a dress and said, "Our LOW price: $39.99, Why do they say LOW price?"
--Kimi was getting dressed and said to me, "Wow, this sweater really smells like an elevator!" She explained to me that that is a clean smell. Phew.
--Cali kept asking me how doctors get babies out of the mommy's tummy. I kept changing the subject, but finally had to tell her. She was horrified and said "I think boys should be the mommies." Wouldn't that be nice.
--Here is one of Cali's jokes she just told me, "What did one hat say to the other hat? Cheerio, I'm a cowboy." Good one, Cali.
--Sorry about another bodily function comment, but here goes: After sending Cali for her third tissue after needing to wipe her nose and then sneezing all over, she said as she walked away, "I guess I am having all sorts of booger problems."
--Sometimes I think about repeating entire prayers said by the girls here, but here is something that just happened. Kimi was saying the prayer and passed some gas in the middle of it. She didn't skip a beat and her next part of the prayer was, "I am thankful that everybody toots and makes mistakes." I was biting my cheeks to keep from busting up.
--I was reading Kimi a book about ants last night and she said, "Once I touched an ant, with my finger, on accident, then it was dead."
--Cali told me that somebody pushed her at recess, and I wanted to make sure she knew to be nice and not mean back. I asked her if she had pushed them back. "No, I was too busy crying." was her answer.
--Kimi looked at me while we were sitting on the couch and said "you look like you have a baby in your tummy." Thanks, Kimi, remember there is a baby in there?
--I heard Cali asking Kimi for her opinion after she got dressed this morning, "How do you think I look: beautiful, stylish, or rock-starish?"
-- One of our single girl neighbors came over to visit the girls. When she told them she had to go to work Kimi said, incredulously, "Girls don't go to work, they just clean up."
--Cali was playing with her Polly Pockets and told me that one of them couldn't walk or move her legs because her legs were "parasites."
--I was shucking corn on the cob and Kimi walked through the kitchen. She looked at me and said, "That's real corn." I said something like, "uh-huh." She kept walking out and said, "I wish you luck." She has so much faith in my cooking abilities.
--Kimi was coloring a picture of George Washington for family home evening. This is what she told me as she colored. "He lives on a state. A state is something you stand on . . . and bang it . . . with a hammer."
--One night we were asking the girls what they wanted to do for fun that night. We gave them a few choices but Kimi replied, dead seriously, that she wanted to pick the stuff out from between her toes.
--After watching a commercial about the Olympics which said something like "China is inviting the world inside," Cali said, "Whoa, we better practice up on chopsticks!"
