road trip-part 2

After staying a few days with Grandma and Grandpa M. at their house, we spent a few days in the car, driving to the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

This was just a little stop along the way through the Colombia River Gorge. It is so unbelievably beautiful to someone who has lived in a desert for her whole life.

The kids were so happy to get to their Aunt Shellie’s house to get to see cousins and stay in a house with this right behind the backyard.

It was a perfect place for exploring.

Being with aunts aunts and cousins and Grandma made it all even better.

I asked them to smile for a picture, and this is what I got.

This was just one afternoon, there’s still more to come.

road trip- part one

IMG_6662

It seems like I either have nothing to blog or too much to blog, and thus, no blogging happens.  But I am going to attempt to get caught up.

Last month I packed up with the kids and we took off on a three week trip to visit my family, in their various locations.

Our first stop was with Grandma and Grandpa M. up North and a trip to Mom and Dad’s Alma Mater.  I took them on a tour of the the demonstration gardens where I spent many an hour as a Landscape Horticulture major.

I couldn’t really give them much of a tour though because most of it has changed. Sigh.

That tree they are standing on was there before. I recognized it.

I had fun telling Cali that that is the building where she was blessed and went to church for the first two years of her life. And I pointed out the apartment  where we lived in with Cali and Kimi when she was a newborn.

It was tempting to go knock on the door and show it to the Cali and Kimi, but I thought it might weird-out the girls who live there now since it is now just girl’s dorms.

Cali says that she hopes to go to school there someday. I hope she does.

This place brings back some of the happiest memories I have.
