another little peanut on the way

Looks like we will be adding another peanut to the peanut gallery around March 3. I got to see our new baby yesterday on an ultrasound and it is already doing flips. Maybe I've been watching too much gymnastics, or eating too much chocolate. Sorry the doctor didn't print anything for me to post for a first photo, but it pretty much does look like a peanut at this point. :)

my olympic dream

After watching a few stories of about older female athletes like Dara Torres, and the German gymnast whose name I don't remember, Scott told me he believes it is not too late for me to start training to live my olympic dream. He has volunteered to be my coach and I think maybe badminton would be a good sport to pursue. I still need a partner so is anyone else interested? :)

olympic fever

I am not a big sports fan, EXCEPT when it comes to the Olympics. I am a diehard fan and have my t.v.'s tuned to it all over the house so I don't miss an olympic moment. If you read my little sidebar on funny things the kids say, Cali thought we were all going to China for the Olympics, and so we decided to take them there. (Sort of) We made a chinese dinner and ate with chopsticks to celebrate the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. Chinese food isn't the girl's favorite, (As Kimi would say, it has too many "venjtables") but they were willing to give it a try with chopsticks. We dropped a lot of food, but it was fun. Kimi actually did the best with her "chapsticks."
Cali gave it a valiant effort. (You can see we had forks on the table in case frustration set in.)
Ian skipped the chopsticks in favor of sticking his eggrolls on his thumbs and eating them.

We had fortune cookies after dinner and watched the opening ceremonies (Which I thought were AWESOME.) Kimi's fortune fit her quite well, "Your days will be filled with sunshine and happiness." I had better stop blogging now because I'm missing water polo. :)

i like to ride my bicycle

We finally got Cali a bike. Actually, we finally started giving her an allowance that we had been promising and she had enough backpay to get herself a bike and some cool streamers for her handle bars. She thought she was ready for the training wheels to come off by day two, but we convinced her she needs a little more practice. Now the trouble is trying to convince Kimi that tricycles are still cool for three-year-olds.

Breaking Dawn

So I just finished Breaking Dawn this morning. No worries, I am not going to spoil anything. I just wanted to know when you guys have read it and when it won't be taboo to talk about anymore. I'll say one thing that gives nothing away though, in my other post about Twilight a while ago I said that there were some people with interesting ideas for the plot that they had posted on goodreads. The plot line I like the best happened to be the exact plot line of the book. I thought that was pretty funny. Maybe you guys haven't even gotten the book yet and are rolling your eyes at my nonobsession. Either way, let me know. :)

stomache flu- day 2

It was another round of washing bedding this morning because Cali threw-up in her bed last night. Ian seems to be better but, alas, the germ has spread. I am also cleaning poop up now too because Kimi and Cali have both had mild diarhea. Because of trips to the bathroom, everybody was woken up and in my bed with me by 6:00 this morning. Motherhood sure has some fun times.

When I got Ian up this morning I got the fun surprise of him, his bed, and his wall being covered with throw-up. It was crusty on him so the poor little guy probably did it when we put him to bed before he went to sleep and slept like that all night. I never heard a sound from him after I went to bed. While cleaning it up, I decided it is my least favorite bodily fluid to clean up. So here is a question that probably only moms (and nurses) think about: out of poop, pee, and vomit which do you think is the yuckiest to clean up?

my first tomato

I just picked my first tomato off my plants outside. I could have snapped a picture of it for my blog of this momentous occasion, but I popped it in my mouth instead. It was a pear tomato, my favorite. I've got two words for you: Mmm mmm.

Vacationing at Eden

We just went to Eden, Utah with all of the Colton family. The family split between Tiffany and Brian's cabin and a rented cabin next door. It was fun to spend the day at the lake or pool and spend nights playing Rock Band after the kids were in bed. It was funny to me how surprised Scott's family was to see me jamming to Bon Jovi and Nirvana. I only got these few pictures of hanging out at the beach. Cali was ready to move into the cabin we stayed at (she presented a whole case for it the night before we left while I was trying to get her into bed.) I was on her side, so too bad reality wasn't. We all had a great time.

That Darn Cat

Here is one more allergy alert for Cali: cats. She went to play at the neighbors house with their cats and they sent her home because she couldn't stop sneezing. She got home and her face was all red and her eye was swelling shut. I gave her benadryl and hurried her upstairs to the tub. I took the pictures to show Scott what she looked like when he got home, but her eye stayed swollen for about a day anyway.
Here is Cali just before I got her dunked in the tub. It had been about a minute since she walked in, but by this time her face, neck, and shoulders were breaking out with hives. Too bad finding out about Cali's allergies have been such fun filled experiences for her. She drew an interesting account in her journal with a picture of her running from a cat with her hands over her mouth.

a grand old 4th

What a fun, and full, day we had! It started at 8:00 a.m. at the church with breakfast and a bike parade. We also had a flag raising ceremony, and the national anthem sung by Alex Boye. He is in our ward, and he is also British. I thought that made him an interesting choice, but I guess he's the only professional singer we have, so what could they do? Cali and Kimi had put a lot of work into decorating their bikes the night before.

After that Cali, Kimi, and I went to see Wall-E with Grandma and Grandpa Colton and some other assorted aunts uncles and cousins. We loved it! Here is part of the movie that Cali drew a picture of for Scott. She filled him in and drew pictures to explain what he missed while tending Ian.

For the afternoon and evening we went to Scott' s uncle's house for a pool party and barbeque. I loved their backyard. The party was so much fun, even with a few close calls. One time Kimi decided to go down the slide so I went to catch her. I stood on the ledge on the wall in the deep end because I can't really swim, and my plan was to catch her as she plunked down into the water. The problem was the slide has water running down it and I hadn't calculated for the force which Kimi was going to come barreling down at. She caught me square in the nose with her foot and we both went flying into the water. It was gratifying for me to find out that I chose to push her to the surface before myself. :) Kimi went back in the water right away, though not back down the slide, and I ended up with a bruised nose, eye, and pride. Kimi and I decided we should both sign up for swimming lessons.

Ian loved the water. He wanted to stay in long after the girls were done.

We came home and put Ian to bed and then shot off some fireworks in our driveway. Kimi thought that some (most) of the fireworks were too loud.

at liberty to play

About two weeks ago we went and spent an evening at Liberty Park, and I have been meaning to get the pictures up ever since. With the kids being so young the park is about equal to going to Disneyland to them. We had some good times.

After they got off the carousel, Cali said it was like a dream come true. :)

Look at the kid behind Cali in the picture below. He was bawling like crazy for the few minutes we had to wait for everyone to get strapped in. Cali had a look on her face like "what is wrong with him?" but she was too polite to turn around. He calmed down once it got going.

I got it on video and it is pretty funny.

Here they are walking through the little wading rivers that go down to a little pool. This is a great place on a hot day.

We kind of topped it off with snowcones. Ian wasn't so sure about those.
